Located on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay, Vallejo is home to the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom theme park, the now-defunct Mare Island Naval Shipyard, the regional office for Region 5 of the United States Forest Service, the California Maritime Academy, the Vallejo Center campus of Solano Community College and Touro University. Sites of interest located within the city include the McCune Rare Book and Art Collection, Solano County Fairgrounds, Mare Island Naval Shipyard and Mare Island Historic Park, Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, Vallejo Municipal Marina, Glen Cove Marina and several golf courses. Events hosted by the city include the Farmers Market, held most Saturdays and performances by the Vallejo Symphony in any of the entertainment venues located within the area.
